Breaking news in white (with a red stripe): Deutsche Bahn has published a Contract Award Notice announcing that it wants to order Siemens Vectron Dual Mode locomotives for DB Fernverkehr. These will be used as pilot locomotives for ICE-L trains on non-electrified track sections in Germany and Austria and as rescue locomotives on high-speed lines. DB states that ‘another manufacturer’ cannot deliver the diesel locomotives initially planned for these duties (keyword: ETCS).
